I purchased this as a gift for my 4 year old daughter who is recently into jewelery. I wanted her to have a special place to keep her pretties safe and encourage responsibiliy, but I didn't want to spend a fortune or give her something too fragile. This was a great choice. It is hard plastic and is painted in a pattern that most girly girls would like. It has several compartments so your little princess can organize her jewels how she pleases. The spinning ballerina and music make it extra special. My only complaint is that the bottom drawer automatically opens when you lift the lid-and that in itself is not a problem, but if you're holding the box with your hand, your thumb is naturally in the way and the lid won't open because the drawer can't slide. I'm afraid if someone who is unaware of this tries to open it they may try pulling harder on the lid and it seems like it could snap easily. But overall I am pleased with my purchase and am considering purchasing one as a gift for my niece.Small for the price By Lauren
This is a gift for my young niece. I ordered this one, because I was having trouble finding one in the stores. Then, found a much more substaintial Girl's jewlery box for much less in a department store. However, it is cute and the music is nice. You must be very careful with handling the lower drawer. Not sure how that will hold up with my four year old niece!Happy and sad By Big Grammie
the music box was cute but was broken when it arrived, the top was broken off and pieces fell out of the box when my granddaughter opened it.
